The museum is situated in:
Mill Close, Burwell, Cambridgeshire. (Maps below)
Parking
As the museum is in the middle of a residential area, we ask able-bodied visitors to avoid parking in Mill Close and causing difficulties for our lovely neighbours!
Free parking is available in the Gardiner Memorial Hall car park, in Burwell High Street (CB25 0HD, look out for the A-board opposite the car park entrance when we're open). The museum is a short walk (about 200m) along Mill Close – find the museum sign (rear left of carpark), go up the path out of the car park and take the road which leads straight ahead just to your left.
Carpark entrance location on What3Words ///intestine.dictation.goat and on Google Maps https://maps.app.goo.gl/VaG7SXJQSLqd2aQn7. If the carpark is full please park in the surrounding streets, but not Mill Close. There is no parking anywhere on the mill/museum site.
Disabled parking
Disabled parking is available in Mill Close, close to the museum entrance. Please allow plenty of room for residents of Mill Close to get in and out of their drives.
By bus
The number 11 Stephensons bus runs to Burwell from Cambridge and Newmarket on Monday to Saturday, but there are no bus services on Sundays or Bank Holidays. See the Stevensons website to plan your journey (select "11 Newmarket - Cambridge" from the dropdown list below the heading "Cambridgeshire & Suffolk Timetables"). The most convenient stop is the High Street junction with Newmarket Road and Parsonage Lane near Morris Armitage estate agents and the Red House Nursery (ask the driver). From there, walk south along the High Street and then first left up Mill Lane. Pass Saxon Drive (on the left) then take the gravel track (the first left after Saxon Drive) to the mill and museum. The red brick cottage beside the track is a private residence unconnected with the museum. Please respect their privacy and boundary.
By bicycle
Burwell is on National Cycle Routes 11 and 51. You can cycle right up to the mill and museum and park in cycle hoops, kindly donated by Wicken Fen.
